Marion thuroughly enjoyed herself in today's javelin session at formidable conditions: sunshine and 15°! High quality throwing was possible and a welcome change to much studying.
Meanwhile, Lisi is doing a lot more, so far without serious problems. We really hope that her dedication will pay off.
Victoria has also joined the running folks again. Appearently, she is recovering very well from surgery in summer. That's really good news and the best is yet to come: in two weeks we will leave central Europe for the traditional training camp - this year in Tenerife!

Putting in a great fight, Marion came in second behind the new Austrian Champion Sabine Kreiner and ahead of third placed Bianca Dürr, Austria’s best heptathlete of the 90s who gave a comeback.

Lisi and Marion competed in the 3rd station of Austrias Top4 Meeting series - with mixed results.

In Maribor Marion and coach Lisi helped the Austrian team to secure their second ticket to the First League of the European Cup after their success in 2004.
After a hard fought battle in the concluding 800m against the Lithuanian team Marion, Lisa Egarter (who already had an impressive performance in Götzis this year) and Patricia Kaiser came second only to the Hungarians.

The first peak of the season is already due on the weekend in Maribor where Marion is eager to do a fulminant heptathlon. Please keep your fingers crossed!

Marion had a very encouraging weekend in Ried where she secured her sixth gold in row in the javelin and three silver medals in the jumps and hurdles.
In a thrilling competition Marion had to throw farther three times two move back into the leading position and secured her title with an impressive 43,91 in the last throw of the event. After getting such a challenge she feels very confident for the European cup at the end of June.

We will have to wait a little longer for the 12m because Lisi did not get a proper grip in the shot yesterday (11,53m) whereas Marion improved her performance slightly to 10,88m. In the long jump she had to fight against some head wind: 5,10m.
The next chance for improvements will already present itself on Saturday @ the Top4 in St. Pölten. We will also welcome a special guest there ;-)

Lisi and Marion competed at the Cricketeeting and Lisi had a good shot put result: 11,95m- feeling is coming back and the 12m are close. Marion still has some timing problems and only got 10,58m as a result.

Our first real test of the still young season had mixed experiences in store for us: quick sprints and "big airs", but also some pain and technical difficulties - in sum: a third place for Lisi and Victoria with the DSG-Wien and a fifth for Marion's ULC-Linz-Oberbank team.

Lisi and Marion go to St. Pölten on sunday to enter the new season with javelin and shot. The focus will be on the training of technical aspects but it is still good to be back in competition! Afterwards we plan to check on lactate levels in a short speed-endurance session.

After training camps for Lisi and Victoria and academic exams for Marion we were unfortunately slowed down by catching a cold. But now the sky is bright again and we slowly but surely started training and will work hard for a good summer!
Looking back on last weekend, we would also like to send our congratulations to ANDREA and GÜNTHER whose rookie-performances in the Vienna City Marathon have been inspiring!!

After the past and present injury marathon Lisi finally came back to secure a well earned Austrian title in the pentathlon! Marion added a third place to this team triumpf. Both had good result in the technical events despite continued health problems. Thus they concluded the day with a rather cautious 800m run. Details and figures are to follow soon.

Lisi and Marion spent a long day trying and testing their technical abilities (also in comeback of a recent flu infection) in Schielleiten. The 50m hurdles (already at 10am) brought close to PR performances for both of them in spite of some stumbles on the way: 7"60 (Lisi) and 8"19 (Marion).
The shot and long jump results are not so fantastic however:
Lisi: 11,47 and 5,54
Marion: 10,58 and 5,11
The video clips taken at the competition show some severe technical problems. Nonetheless we are optimistic and espect improvements soon. It was our first long jump this season after all.
Coming up: 60m hurdles on tuesday!

Next week is going to be full of action. We have all been more or less severely knocked out by the flu recently. That's why next week will provide some moments of truth! Let's find out how fast we can come back and for Lisi and Marion if the pentathlon is possible or not. Keep your fingers crossed, please!

The first competition and some good test results give confidence to our team. Victoria started her season with 60m (7,71s) and longjump (5,91m -short approach) and Lisi and Marion tested quite well for sprint, weights and speed. Lisi seems to be in good shape, for she finished all her tests with personal bests. Unfortunately we have bad news too: Victoria and Marion caught the flu and have to spend some days in bed.

Back from Fuerteventura we already got more or less acustomed to the cold at home. Although it must be said, that we really miss our sunny balcony where regeneration between the training sessions was quite easy.
In the mean time we made good use of the more or less frequently opened indoor facilities over here and apart from that enjoyed Xmas, friends and family.
Before we begin fine tuning for the indoor season in January we will celebrate New year's eve with pancakes!

We send our best greetings from the Canary Islands - Fuerteventura is our third by now. So far we found excellent condidtions for training and are enjoying our camp!

...and it's doing so at an alarmingly high pace! We already have a good two months of preparation under our belts. It seems however that the indoor season is coming up extremely quickly. Before that - in just three weeks - we will search for more sun and higher temperatures at Fuerteventura :))
Although, one has to admit that this year's November is unusally kind and even allows for quality training outside.
The training has so far gone accordingly well for Marion whereas Lisi unfortunately had to overcome some extra obstacles like tendon related problems and a 'VV' (vomiting virus..) She seems to be much better now, though.
Victoria, meanwhile, enjoys good progress but has to devote some of her concentration to academic matters. Please keep your fingers crossed - there is only one exam left before she can obtain her master-title!

Victoria and Marion both passed their final exams of the national coaching education programme and will from now on look after their young athletes with state-approved authority ;-)

The Hexham International Combined Events Meeting turned out to be a big disappointment for Marion, as she decided to finish after the javelin being more than 500 points short of her personal best. Nonetheless she enjoyed at least the great atmosphere of a very well organised (if wind-swept) Meeting at a charming venue.

After completing her first post-graduate-certificate two weeks ago, Marion can now concentrate on athletics again. It's about time too because she is looking forward to a very challenging heptathlon at the weekend's Meeting in Hexham, Northern England.
British decathlates - including Dean Macey - will also try to make the best of it as they are still in pursuit of the Olympia-ticket.
Meanwhile, in Austria the focus will be on Ried, where Lisi and Victoria go for PR's at the next Top4-Meeting.
Finally, Marion wants to greet all her EOA-mates who find their way onto this site!

All three of us plus Coach Herwig were looking forward to the Slovenian Grand-Prix-Meeting in Maribor. After all the venue will always be linked with very positive Heptathlon-experiences in the past.

1 gold and silver medal respectively plus two top 6 rankings - that's what we carried home after two days of competition in the Austrian indoor championships.

It was bad luck all the way at the Austrian Multi-events Championships in Linz last weekend. While Marion had to watch from the stands suffering from a huge cold, Lisi gave up after three events due to the old achilles-tendinitis. As she was leading the competition by a comfortable margin it was a very hard decision. We only hope that it will pay off and that both will have a tremendous impact in the summer season!!!

While Marion went to Rome for an academic presence workshop, Victoria and Lisi competed at George's perfectly organised meeting (congratulations!) in the Dusika stadium yesterday - with mediocre results. Both of them were not really pleased with their performance but also had some problems. Victoria even had to withdraw from the hurdles final because of a calves injury. In Lisi's case the rather heavy training during the last few days might have cost some power. The next chance will present itself next weekend already and we hope for a better day!

Hudles: 8,47 Victoria, 9,02 Lisi
Longjump: 5,91 V, 5,64 L

Victoria and Marion entered their first indoor competition of the season at a meeting in the Dusika-Stadium.
Clocking 7,62 in the heat and 7,61 in the final Victoria showed fast legs and secured a victory! What a start! But this was not the end because she added a promising 6,16 late in the evening in the long jump.
As usual Marion needs a little more time to get started but was pleased with 9,46 in the 60m hurdles. More is sure to come! This is also true for shot (10,83m) and especially with regard to the high jump (1,53) which did not work out at all. As soon as she is comfortable again with the long run up, the bar will go up as well.
Lisi, meanwhile, spent a few days fighting against a bad cold but already left bed for good. Soon we will see her in competition too.

For Victoria won the Austrian championships (hurdles: 13,41s) she was nominated for the Universiade in Bangkok (although the limit is 13,25s)! Congratulations!
In Ebensee she improved her PB in longjump to sensational: 6,41m!
Marion competed in the European Cup Combined Events and got 4th with her team.
Lisi is now painfree and starts to train again- but no heptathlon this season!

The 2007 competitions already started and while Marion is doing quite well, Victoria suffers from a muscle injury and Lisi still undergoes treatment due to her Achilles problems.

Victoria finished the indoor season with a 2007 best 8"40 in the 60m hurdles race and got silver. Once again she proved her extra motivation and skills when it counted most!

Lisi celebrates Comeback after 3 years of Pentathlon absence and wins title with 3824 Pts. Marion finishes second with 3517Pts- Lisis Team wins, Marions gets second. 4 Medals on one day for our Team! Victoria eqals her 60m PB with 7,72 and runs 60m Hurdles season best. (8,56)

At the 6th Marswiesenmeeting (organized by DSG-Wien) Marion nailed her best ever longjump series and is now really looking forward to the Austrian championships in heptathlon.
Unfortunately there are slight problems with the hamstrings of her jumping leg. She therefore has to shorten her program at the Top4-Meeting in Kapfenberg on Friday.

As most experts had predicted Carolina Klüft and Roman Sebrle showed thrilling performances and made themselves Queen and King of athletes again.
We are also proud to report that Victoria successfully mastered her first appearance at European Championships getting valuable experience for next time.

Today's already the opening ceremony at Gothenburg and we look forward to watching Victorias performance in the hurdles! The heats will take place on the 10th from 10:45 a.m. Turn on your tv!

With a sensational hurdles race in Wolfsberg, Victoria qualified for Gothenburg booking a last minute ticket. Her 13,34sec are 1/100 faster than the limit!

2 Titles, 1 2nd place, 3x best 6 for our Team!

Due to injury problems Austria could not send a team to the European Cup for combined events this year. Thus Marion searched for another competition and found the regional championships of Oberpfalz in the beautiful Bavarian town of Regensburg, where she finally managed to fulfill her own expectations and got a big PR of 5313 improving by 177 points!

Lisi didn't start in Götzis due to a hamstring injury which occured at the trainingscamp in Caorle. Marion already finished her first heptathlon in Maribor and Victoria started in Germany (Zeulenroda). Results under news in german!

On Saturday Lisi,Marion an Victoria start at the Austrian Relay Champs in Graz. Victoria and Lisi run for their team DSG-Wien and Marion for ULC-Linz in the 4x400m relay. After that the three girls head directly to their next trainingscamp in Caorle (ITA). They 'll stay there for 10 days.

The three of us have just returned from training camps in different regions. Whereas Victoria and Marion both have been to Italy - Lignano and Marina di Pietrasanta respectively Lisi has stayed in Austria and chosen Schielleiten. Apart from the fact that Marion caught a bad cold training has been successful. Now we are looking forward to a joint training camp in two weeks, this time in Caorle (Italy again).

Victoria has been upgraded to A-Kader due to her good indoor season.
Lisi got an invitation for the largest Multievent Meeting in Götzis.

We proudly present the Austrian combined events indoor champions 2006: Johannes Kuenz and Marion Obermayr!!
Slightly handicaped by a cold, Marion still got a new personal best with 3642 points. But for a rather cautious 800 she is also very satisfied with her individual performances: 9,27 / 1,66 / 10,85 / 5,42 / 2:27

Spectacular personal best for Victoria at the Vienna Indoor Meeting! In the middle of a strong field she got everyone convinced by her performance. Clocking 8,34 she ranked fifth in the 60m hurdles final.
Marion and Lisi also got a season's best each on a very entertaining evening when Tim Lobinger vaulted 5,81.

The new season is still young but bigger competitions are coming up rather soon. Therefore Marion chose yesterday's meeting in Schielleiten as a first "competition-training".
Lisi and Victoria will join in next saturday.

Just one week away from our training camp on Gran Canaria preparations have already started and training is going quite well. The suddenly cold weather even increases our longing for the south.

Wintertraining already started 3 weeks ago and we are all looking forward to our trainingscamp in Gran Canaria (Dec.). We are trying to work very hard this season due to the oncoming European championships this year! The limits are: 5757 Pts in Heptathlon and 13,35 s 100m hurdles. It's going to be hard but we will do our best to achieve this goal!!

The Austrian championships at the highly famous mösle stadium in götzis were dominated by Victoria and Marion. After about two years of "abstinence" Victoria got gold in her first heptathlon and an impressive PR of 5299 points. Her 6,19m (another PR) in the long jump were probably the crucial part. Marion managed a satisfying second place with 5099 points which is only 37 points short of her own PR.

Whereas Victoria went to Helsinki for watching the world championships live, Marion was competing in the Swiss heptathlon championships.
After a disappointing first day, she tried to fight back on the second and took slightly too much risk. The consequence were three no-jumps. Good 41,77m in the Javelin followed and then Marion and coach Herwig startet the long journey home. "Allthough I did not do very well I still think it was worth the experience and a good preparation for the upcoming Austrian championships.", Marion stayed optimistic. Finally, our compliments go to the organizers in Payerne who really did a good job!

The Swiss championships for multi- events will take place in Payerne (near Freiburg) on the 6./7. of august and provide an excellent opportunity for Marion to test her form. Training goes well and she is looking forward to another heptathlon before the national championships in Götzis.
Victoria also strives for good results in Wolfsberg tomorrow and Lisi undergoes special training under physiotherapeutic control. She even does water-sessions to give her knee a chance to recover.

5 medals and 2 sub 7 places for Marion, Victoria and Lisi!

To complete the successful weekend for our trio Marion got two more titels: she won the javelin with much appreciated 44,95 (to go on with the tradition) and helped the Wöckinger-sisters to triumph in the relay clocking 47,95.

At the Viennese Championships Lisi and Victoria won 6 titles and gained 1 second place and one new PB.

Marion's start in Maribor at the EAA-Meeting for combined events was a success and resulted in a new personal record. Unfortunately the first day did not go well (15,28 / 1,62 / 10,98 / 26,93) but on the second day (5,46 / 44,44 / 2:20,31)Marion fighted and got the third place and 5136 points in the end.
Allthough there are big reserves the whole trip was a success and in future more is to be expected.

In very pleasant weather conditions Salzburg hosted thrilling team championships. Victoria, Marion, Lisi and their teams had good results and got badly needed competition experience - this early in the season.

Tomorrow the Austrian club-champs take place in Salzburg/Rif. Marion starts for her club ULC-Linz (highjump,javelin, 400m) and Lisi (shot,discus, 4x100m relay) and Victoria (100m, 100mHurdles, 4x100m relay) for DSG-Wien.

Traditionally, as a first competition of the season we wanted to add to the relay efforts of our clubs by running the 4x400. Unfortunatly, Lisi and Victoria had to withdraw due to injury problems. At least they can join their DSG-team mates' celebration of a third place. Marion actively got a second place as a member of the ULC-relay and experienced a long lasting finish.. :-)

Because of severe problemes with the patella tendon (jumpers knee) Lisi decided not to compete in Götzis. At the moment no high- or longjump-training is possible. The next aim should now be the European Cup in Finland.

This year Caorle was worth the journey. Nice weather and appartments (seaview!), good food and good trainingconditions ensured a positive atmosphere. Marion seems to be in good shape while Lisi (knee) and Victoria (hip) still have problems with injuries. Nevertheless we all got some new technical impulses which we now try to integrate in our training!

Tomorrow the three of us are going to Caorle (ITA) on a one week training camp. A lot of technical work (eg. shotput with the national coach Maria Schramseis) is to be done. Hopefully the weather will be fine.....Cappucino is waiting!

This week Lisi had an out of competition doping control. The controller came while she was working on the Schmelz. Therefore he had to wait 1 1/2 hours for the test. Victoria had a doping control at the Austrian championships in february. Although a doping control is always unpleasant for the athlete it still is an important and useful procedure!

Marion is on her way down to the south (italy) and Lisi and Victoria are heading for Schielleiten for some training days. We hope the weather will be fine for spring finally came to Autria in the last few days.
We haven't seen any easter bunnys yet, but ....who knows?

Marion insured that a heptathlete took part in the first winter throwing challenge. In wonderfully bright sunshine conditions at the Cricket sportsground one could observe a variety of flying objects. The strong wind carried some of them away... In a period of heavy training Marion managed 39,24m which was enough for 3rd place in the javelin.
Thanx to the organizers: It was a nice meeting for a change and hopefully the pionieer event for genuine throwing championships next winter.
